with Julie Brown Friends, I have something I want to tell you. And then I have something I want to ask you. Here goes….in 2027, I want to speak on 50 stages. There. I said it. I put it out into the universe. It’s officially a thing.
50 stages. In one year. Big stages. Small stages. Conference ballrooms. Corporate retreats. Leadership summits. Association meetings. Rooms filled with 50 people and rooms filled with 5,000 people. And before you think this is some sort of vanity goal, let me tell you why I want it. I have spent years researching, developing, and delivering keynotes about the power of relationships, the opportunities we create when we advocate for ourselves, and what happens when we stop letting hesitation make our decisions for us. And I have seen what happens when people experience my keynote. People start thinking differently about their careers, their relationships, and what’s possible for them. They stop waiting for someone to notice them. They start asking for what they want. They make connections that lead to opportunities they never imagined. They get a little bolder about how they show up in the world. How do I know? Because I have more than 5,000 testimonials from people who have experienced my keynotes. People who have told me what they learned, what they’re going to do differently, and how they’re going to change the way they approach their careers and relationships. And you don’t have to take my word for it. You can read what they have to say right here. Now, listen. I’m not telling you this because I need 5,000 people to tell me I’m fabulous. I have two dogs who already think I’m the greatest thing that has ever happened to this planet. My ego is doing just fine. I’m telling you because I KNOW THIS WORK CHANGES LIVES AND CAREERS. AND I WANT MORE PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE IT. If I can bring these messages to 50 stages in one year, I have the potential to reach THOUSANDS of people. Thousands of people who might finally ask for the promotion, make the introduction, speak up in the meeting, pursue the opportunity, or take a chance on themselves. And THAT is a goal worth going after. I have spent my entire career teaching people that success is not a solo sport. That opportunities travel through relationships. That the people in our networks can open doors we didn’t even know existed. So it would be pretty ridiculous of me to set this big, audacious goal and then sit quietly in my office hoping the phone rings. Which brings me to the part where I ask for your help. Do you know someone who hires keynote speakers? Are you part of a professional association that hosts an annual conference? Does your company have a sales kickoff, leadership retreat, or company-wide meeting? Are you involved with a women’s leadership organization? Do you sit on a conference planning committee? Do you know an event planner, an HR leader, a learning and development director, or someone responsible for bringing speakers into their organization? Maybe your industry association has a big annual event. Maybe your company is planning a leadership summit. Maybe you attended a conference last year and thought, “You know who would be GREAT on that stage? JULIE.” I WOULD LOVE AN INTRODUCTION. Seriously. That’s it. I’m not asking you to sell me, pitch me, or convince anyone to hire me. I’m asking you to help me start a conversation with someone who might benefit from the work I do. I bring research, practical strategies people can actually use, a whole lot of humor, and occasionally an entire room of professionals singing karaoke.
It’s a whole thing. And I LOVE IT. And you know what else I love? I love that I’m writing this email to you. Because for years I have stood on stages and told people to be specific about what they want. To make the ask. To give their networks the opportunity to help them. To stop assuming that people know what they’re working toward. And now it’s my turn. Because apparently being a networking expert doesn’t exempt you from having to actually NETWORK. Will I get to 50 stages? I don’t know. But I know my chances of getting there are a hell of a lot better now that YOU know what I’m trying to accomplish. So if someone comes to mind, hit reply. Send me their name. Make an introduction. Forward this email to someone who plans events. Or just keep me in mind the next time someone says, “We’re looking for a great speaker.” Because I believe deeply that extraordinary things happen when we help each other. 50 stages. Thousands of people. Countless possibilities. Let’s see what we can make happen together. Thank you so much in advance.
P.P.S. If you like my work and want to support it, here are 3 ways! 1) Forward this newsletter to a friend and let them know they can subscribe here. 2) Buy my book 3) Bring me into your company to speak. (Either in person or virtual.)
